The flu is an acute viral illness that predominantly affects the respiratory tract and is highly contagious.
It is easily transmitted from person to person:
- The act of coughing;
- The act of sneezing;
- From a conversation within 1 meter of the infected person.
The main symptoms are
- Sudden malaise;
- High fever (above 38ºC);
- Shivers;
- Muscle pain;
- Joint pain.
This is a public health problem that can have serious consequences, especially for groups at risk, who have weakened immune systems and are therefore unable to fight the virus effectively.
Vaccination is the main way to prevent the flu.
Vaccinate yourself and those around you!
