Dr. Boaventura R. Afonso is a medical doctor with an Integrated Master’s Degree in Medicine from the University of Coimbra, with specific training in Psychiatry. In addition to his medical training, he has a postgraduate degree in Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapies and has also been trained in Schema-Focused Psychotherapy. She has also completed Level A of the Interpersonal Psychotherapy Course, broadening her skills in psychotherapeutic support.

Throughout her career, she has developed experience in hospital contexts, carrying out internships in leading institutions, both in Portugal, such as the Magalhães Lemos Hospital, the Santo António University Hospital, the São João University Hospital and the Pedro Hispano Hospital, and internationally, such as the IPUB Psychiatry Institute of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and the Sleep Medicine Center of the Vrapce Psychiatric Hospital in Zagreb. She also has experience in specific areas of psychiatry, with training in Sleep Disorders and Circadian Rhythm, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Eating Disorders.

In 2025, she began psychoanalytic therapy consultations with clinical supervision, reinforcing her commitment to a comprehensive, evidence-based therapeutic approach. In addition to clinical practice, she is dedicated to psychotherapy, offering Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy consultations, always with a commitment to continuous scientific updating. Its focus is to provide personalized and excellent care, promoting the mental health and well-being of its patients.
